Seasons Greetings!!
Another Holiday season is upon us and it is the time to reflect upon the many gifts we are bestowed with this year. As you gather with friends and family to celebrate, we request you to spare a moment and consider the transformation you can catalyze, with a generous and timely contribution, in the life of a young girl.
NIA sponsors academically inclined and financially deserving girls, giving them a chance to pursue their dreams. NIA partners with organizations in India to carefully screen and select the most deserving girls to fund, coach and monitor each year. These girls work hard and excel in their studies and it is now our turn to match their dedication with our support.
We appreciate your generous patronage thus far and hope that you will continue the benefaction. Even a small contribution* from you will go a long way in empowering these girls. Please visit NIA's website or click "make a donation" button below to make a donation and change a life. Thank you for your support.
NIA's zero overhead model ensures that 100% of your contribution goes directly to these deserving candidates.
Happy Holidays!!

Funding update

In the year 2011, we funded 48 students, 22 of whom were this year's new additions to the program. We continue to increase the number of college students we support each year. In 2011, we funded 18 girls for their college education across disciples ranging from nursing to computer engineering.

NIA's vision is to assist more students in pursuing a college education. As the cost of higher education in India continues to rise, we really look to your generosity to enable more female students achieve a college degree and therefore a chance at financial sustenance and independence.

We are proud to announce that we have entered into a partnership with Shishu Shakthi and Siragu, two Chennai based Non Governmental Organizations (NGO).

Shishu Shakthi is the brain child of S. Soundarya and S. Jayalakshmi. Shishu Shakthi started work at the Girls Juvenile Home in Purasawalkam. From that humble start it has moved on to various NGO's and instituitions like the Boys Juvenile Home, Seva Samajan Girls Home, Rasa, Swabodhini, Pathai, Nethrodaya, Turning Point, Swayam Charitable Trust and many more. It has also been concentrating on individual sponsorship of education of needy children coming from various backgrounds.

Siragu is a learning space for street children, children rescued from begging and other deprived children of the society. Siragu was started in June 2003 by Suyam Charitable Trust. Located in Chennai, India, the school was started with the sole aim of educating first generation students of scheduled tribes and other economically deprived communities.

NIA had its second fund-raising event at KULA YOGA PROJECT in New York city. Monja Mani and Arun Mani led an inspiring yoga class to raise money for the girls supported by NIA. The event was a success and it helped increase the awareness about the need to support girls education.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to KULA YOGA PROJECT for offering their beautiful studio for the event. We look forward to conducting similar fund-raising events throughout the city next year. Stay tuned!
